rottweiler puppy love of rottweilers

my dog is showing aggresion to strangers, what do I do?

I HAVE A 6 MONTH OLD ROTT/BLACK LAB MIX. HE GROWLS BARKS & TRIES TO GO AFTER ANY STRANGE PERSON HE SEES.HE DOESN'T LIKE STRANGERS.

IN OUR HOME HE'S REALLY WELL BEHAVED. HE'S LOVABLE PLAYFUL AND LISTENS. I TAKE HIM OUTSIDE TO GO POTTY & IF HE SEES THE NEIGHBOUR OUT, HE GETS VERY DEFENSIVE. HE HASN'T HAD MUCH SOCIALIZING OTHER THAN OUR FAMILY'S. WE TRY, BUT GIVE UP WHEN HE WON"T STOP THE GROWLING.

WHEN HE SEES A STRANGER YOU CAN'T GET HIS ATTENTION FOR NOTHING. WHAT DO I DO ?

Hi
I'm pretty sure the problem here isn't a basically unsound temperament, but the fact that this pup hasn't had enough training or socialization. Both of these are crucial if you want to raise a well-behaved, confident and friendly dog.

On the positive side, he's still plenty young enough to learn that this behavior isn't acceptable but you are going to have to commit yourself to giving him the time and effort needed to learn.

I'd strongly recommend that you either enroll him in a local dog obedience class or get a dog obedience trainer to come to your home to help you learn how to understand and control his behavior.

This isn't an aggressive puppy, just one who is unsure of anything outside of his own home because he's not familiar with it. He is becoming an adolescent and his guarding instincts are beginning to surface and it's very important that you help him learn to channel these properly. He must not see all strangers as enemies, or be afraid of new situations, environments, people or animals. If this continues and one day he reacts badly out of fear your dog's life could be in danger.

PLEASE get the help you need to reshape this behavior now, your pup is relying on you to take care of him and help him navigate his world, don't let him down.
