When you think of Rottweilers, what do you see?
I see strength, loyalty, affection, a big goofy 'smile', and a wagging rear-end. Sadly, many people visualize something entirely different.
This website is a labor of love and dedicated to the breed that I adore!
I'd love a chance to introduce you to the dog that I know (the one behind the misconceptions and stereotypes), to help you raise your Rottie properly, to enjoy his company and to appreciate the unique and awesome dog that he truly is....
I've lost count of the number of times strangers (and sometimes even friends/family) have raised their eyebrows and said something along the lines of "Oooh, aren't you afraid they'll turn on you?" or "Those dogs! Really?"
While they're definitely big, powerful dogs who are often portrayed as unpredictable 'villains', vicious guard dogs or even as 'fighters' - that's not the REAL Rottweiler - not even close!
The Rottie I know and love is big - yes, courageous - definitely, but he (or she) is also loving, gentle, sensitive, intelligent, goofy, clumsy, loyal, hard-working...... and so much more.
My dogs love nothing more than to climb into my lap for a cuddle, and although I have no doubt that they would give their lives to protect me, even the cats in our house can put them in their place.
Hi, my name is Sue. I'm a long-time Rottweiler owner, and my love of the breed is the inspiration for this website.
I'm looking forward to sharing my passion and personal knowledge of these awesome dogs with you. Owning a Rottie is a privilege and an unforgettable experience. Welcome to my world.... Enjoy!
Although I adore my dogs, this breed isn't for everyone, and owning and raising them has it's own special challenges.
These big dogs have unique dietary, health, behavioral and training needs.
If your irresistible little puppy is to grow up to be all that he can be, then you (as his parents) have to know exactly what he needs to be happy and healthy....... and that's where I come in!
I've spent over a decade being 'mom' to Rottweilers big (and not so big), and I hope by sharing my experiences, and all the tips and tricks I've learned along the way, I can help you get ahead of the 'learning curve' and make taking care of your puppy or dog easier and more fun.
You'll find lots of information on this awesome breed, plus a ton of advice, support and inspiration (not to mention plenty of fun doggie stuff too).
Here's just a taste of what's inside:
You'll also find answers to some of questions I get asked a LOT:
I'm a real person, with a real passion for this breed and my website is a labor of love. The pic to the left is one of my 'babies', my beloved Nero (who is now waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge).
I created this site as a practical resource for Rottweiler lovers everywhere, and I hope you'll find everything you need to keep your new puppy, or dog, happy and healthy right here.
It breaks my heart to know how many people believe our dogs to be
mean, vicious and dangerous... and how many irresponsible
breeders/owners perpetuate that stereo-type with carelessness, cruelty
If you've ever had someone turn away, or step
back, from your pet because they heard the word 'Rottweiler' and
suddenly saw a monster instead of a dog..... or if you've seen or know
people who bought one to look 'tough', keep outdoors as a
guard-dog, parade around as a symbol of macho pride, or worse, then you
know exactly what I mean, and why I do this.
If you yourself have
ever felt fearful or anxious when meeting one of these gorgeous black
and tan dogs because of their 'reputation'... I hope my site will show
you what's inside a well bred, properly raised Rottie. If you give this breed a chance they'll turn your doubts and fears on their head - I promise!
Stepping down off my soap-box now.......
If there's anything you'd like to see on my site, or have suggestions, comments or questions please feel free to contact me. I'd really love to hear from you.
Whether this is your first Rottweiler, or your fifth, I hope you enjoy your visit to my site, and come back often!
