When I think of a Rottweiler I see strength, loyalty, affection, a goofy 'smile', and a wagging rear-end. But, sadly, many people imagine something quite different.
I've lost count of the number of times strangers (and sometimes even friends/family) have raised their eyebrows and said something along the lines of "Oooh, aren't you afraid they'll turn on you?" or "Those dogs! Really?"
While a Rottie is definitely a big, powerful dog, and often portrayed as a guard dog or even as a 'fighter', that's not the REAL Rottweiler - not even close!
The Rottweiler I know and love is big, yes, but he (or she) is also loving, gentle, goofy, clumsy, loyal and so much more.
My Rotties love nothing more than to climb into my lap for a cuddle, and although I have no doubt that they would give their lives to protect me, even the cats in our house can put them in their place.
My love of rottweilers is the inspiration for this website, and I'm looking forward to sharing my passion for this wonderful breed!
Owning and Raising A Rottweiler
Although I adore my dogs, this breed isn't for everyone, and owning and raising them has it's own special challenges.
These big dogs have unique dietary, health, behavioral and training needs.
If your irresistible little puppy is to grow up to be all that he can be, then you (as his parents) have to know exactly what he needs to be happy and healthy....... and that's where a-love-of-rottweilers comes in!
I've spent over a decade being 'mom' to Rottweilers big (and not so big), and I hope by sharing my experiences, and all the tips and tricks I've learned along the way, I can help you get ahead of the 'learning curve' and make taking care of your puppy or dog easier and more fun.
