Overview

The Rottador is a cross of two popular pure breeds, such as Rottweiler and Labrador Retriever. It is not purebred. The origins of the Rottweiler Labrador mix are unknown but it is thought that this breed developed in the United States during the 1990s.

Breeders wanted to cross the two breeds to reduce the health issues that may affect many pure breeds. Size and appearance

This hybrid dog can be small like a Labrador (25 inches) and it can also attain the size of a Rottweiler (27 inches). They also have different weights.

It is a big size dog with short hair and floppy ears. It is not right to say that their puppy will look like a Labrador or a Rottweiler.

Care

  • Regular check-ups of this hybrid dog are necessary for good health and better growth. This dog is prone to weight gain and needs a high energy level. For body maintenance, your dog requires at least one hour-long walk per day.
  • Keep their ears clean, and regular examination is necessary for the prevention of debris and fleas attack. Trim the nails of your furry friend twice a month.
  • Oral health is also important for excellent growth and better digestion of food. You should brush the teeth of your dog twice or thrice a month. Consult your vet whenever there is any plaque formation in teeth.
