walking my 5 month old rotti

How do my family and i train my 5 month old rottweiler to walk on a leash, without him pulling and walking in front of us.

Hi Danny
First of all I'd recommend that you read my Leash Training A Puppy page as it has lots of tips and advice to help you. There are also some DVD's that are excellent and can help show you how to train your pup.

There are also some great dog training books on my Rottweiler Books page.

I'd also suggest that you enroll this puppy in a basic obedience class at a local dog training facility. The hands-on help of a qualified instructor helps A LOT and it will speed up the training process for both of you.

Hope this helps, best of luck with your pup.

Walking a rotti
by: Lina

Hi

What i do is that i play out in the yard first with mine until he is a little tired. Then i put on collar and lead on him and play some more this usually goes for 30 mins,by then he is relaxed. Then i take him out for the walk. This way i found that he is more responsive to my commands. He doesn't pull and walks calmly next to me.

Enrolling him into dog training group that way he will be well socialized and learn the basics also.
