car troubles – Rottie aggressive towards other vehicles

2 months ago i rescued a female rottweiler. she is the most loveable girl who loves riding in the car head hanging out window(of course).

the last 2 days she has become extremely aggressive to passing cars to the point i’m afraid she’s gonna bust windows out!

what is this sudden behavior all about? she is spayed.

Hi
There could be a lot of factors involved here, including her age, her previous background and/or experiences, the fact that she is starting to feel comfortable in her new environment and so on. It’s impossible for me to say why she’s suddenly acting this way though.

It sounds as though she’s a good girl overall with a sound temperament, so this is a behavior you’re just going to need to correct firmly. I would strongly recommend NOT letting her stick her head out of the window – and not just because of her reaction to other cars. It’s a dangerous practice for her because she could get hurt by flying objects, get stuff in her eyes or ears, or even try to jump out the car (not unheard of) and that would have obviously potentially tragic consequences.

Some basic training would be a good idea with an adopted dog, and I’d recommend getting her enrolled in a beginners obedience class at a local dog obedience school. It will help you both to communicate and understand each other, plus the socialization is good for her and you’ll be able to get hands-on advice from professional trainers. It also helps to cement the bond between you both.

Good luck with your Rottie.
