Hello all,

I have a couple of questions. We’re very excited to have this pup, and are extremely worried we’re doing the right things. I haven’t had a puppy in over 8 years.

I’ve been doing a lot of reading, and have made myself paranoid I hope.. We recently got my rottie and we love him to death, we’ve already got his AKC registration turned in. I’ve attached pictures of him and would like to know if anyone has had problems with their rotties showing signs of elbow or hip problems at an early age. From everything I’ve read, he’s to young for us to notice anything yet. I think he shows good posture, but am not sure if his paws turning out a little are any issue.

We took him to the vet(All shots and medication up to date BTW) and he weighs 11 Lbs 8Oz. I’ll be switching him to Purina Pro Plan large breed puppy dog food this following week, following veterinary recommendation. I’m currently feeding him Buffalo blue wilderness and he’s having no issues with it that I can tell. One reason I’m making the switch is because of Buffalo blue lawsuit last year.

Is it ok to split 2 1/2 cups of food up to three times a day and only allow him to eat for 10-15 minutes and if he doesn’t eat pick it up? Also, is canned food good every few days?

Thanks a lot, look forward to hearing from experienced Rottweiler owners!

Hi Alex. Sorry it took so long to get a reply to this submission, this website is very active and sometimes I don’t get to all of the posts in a timely enough manner. I apologize for this!

By now Zeus will be growing into a big boy and I’m sure you are feeling much more confident about the whole puppy thing.

From those photos I don’t see a thing wrong with your puppy, he’s gorgeous 🙂

Again, sorry for the delay, and I hope that all is going well for you and Zeus. Best of luck to you both.

Your dog looks perfect. My boy was a very picky eater. I almost ate his food just to make him want to eat it. Ive switched food a lot. Purina was the winner. BlueBuffalo and all that holistic crap is just that. Find something your dog like that has a high protein count. He will fill in between 2 – 4 years old> Just wait and see.
